Why we are building Portward
AI tools are doing more of the work that depends on company data. To do it properly they need the right data, what that data means, and limits on who may see it. Portward supplies those three.
01The name
Where the name comes from
Portward means toward port. A port is where goods are checked, recorded and sent on to the right place, which is the job Portward does for data on its way to an AI tool. The mark is a dhow, a traditional sailing ship.
02Principles
How we decide what to build
People keep the AI tool they chose
Your team already has an AI tool they like. Portward works inside it as a connector, so nobody has to learn a new place to ask questions.
Rules are enforced by Portward
An instruction to an AI is a suggestion it can ignore. Portward applies your rules to the data before anything is sent, and blocks a request when it can't.
A person approves shared knowledge
AI tools notice useful things and are sometimes wrong. A correction they propose is reviewed by a person before anyone else relies on it.

Every source and AI tool on this site is listed with its current status, and each page says what is still missing.
